The Rev. Dr. Pitman B. Potter

In a new concept for our diocese, the Reverend Pitman Potter, longtime deacon at St. Helen’s West Point Grey, has been licensed as deacon to the Archdeaconry of Vancouver. This arrangement allows Pitman to be in ministry with the parishes of St John’s Shaughnessy, St Philip’s Dunbar, and St Anselm’s, as well as continuing his work with the West Point Grey Neighbourhood Ministry. Pitman is also Professor of Law at UBC Law Faculty (http://www.allard.ubc.ca/faculty-staff/pitman-potter), where he leads a major international research project on coordinating trade and human rights compliance. Pitman continues to encourage students, staff, and faculty to re-invigorate their faith lives and seek fellowship with other Christians and the Anglican Communion. Pitman provides direct fellowship to colleagues at UBC. Pitman also models Christian ministry in his academic work on international human rights with particular attention to China and Asia. He is a Senior Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and recently chaired the APFC’s national taskforce on human rights in Asia. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Visit Pitman’s diaconal website for more information.
