As we enter the Season of Creation, Christians (and our Abrahamic cousins, Jews and Muslims) are confronted with the fact that our founding stories of creation are at odds with the modern understanding of how our universe came into being, and of our place in that universe.
The traditional response has been to ignore the discrepancy. But what if there was a train of thought that at once fully embraced cosmology and evolution, and at the same time, continued to see the divine presence in our universe. That, in a nutshell, is the vision of scientist, Jesuit priest and modern day mystic, Pierre Teihard de Chardin. This set of talks explores the Teilhard’s vision and how he provides the basis for a unified understanding of Theology and Science.
- Week 1: The vision of Teilhard de Cardin
- Week 2: (Sept 16th) Evolution with Theological Implications
- Week 3: (Sept 23rd) The Theology of Indigenous Creation Stories
